Brilliant, a San Mateo-based technology company, unveils its new Smart lighting solution that can be controlled by voice commands or a simple touch. Brilliant Control replaces existing light switches and installs in just minutes, with a vibrant touchscreen that is extremely easy to operate.
Brilliant Control will be showcased at the Target Open House in San Francisco. The connected concept store has undergone a full renovation project and is scheduled to reopen on February 10, 2017. Members of the public are invited to attend the event, so they can get an up close and personal look at the device.
“While renovating my house, it was important to me that anyone in any room could adjust lighting, music, and climate control as easily as flipping a light switch. Requiring a mobile phone and apps to adjust your environment is clumsy, and for guests or children, it’s impossible. But every available system in the market costs tens of thousands of dollars and takes weeks to install, and still doesn’t bring control to every room. We knew there had to be a better solution,” said Aaron Emigh, co-founder and chief executive officer of Brilliant. “That’s why we invented the Brilliant Control. It is affordable, can be installed in minutes by replacing an existing light switch, and provides a beautiful and intuitive solution that everyone in the home can use throughout the home.”
Brilliant Control features motion, voice and touch control capabilities, along with a privacy cover, microphone and camera. These features will allow users to add voice and video intercom to their home. Users can also personalize their home, with family photos and motion art. New theme packs and seasonal scenes will be available on a monthly basis.
The device utilizes Amazon Alexa voice services, so users can create a shopping list and access real-time weather forecasts. Create scenes to set the mood for every aspect of your daily routine.
Brilliant partners with a long list of Smart Home manufacturer’s, including Sonos, Nest, Ring, Philips Hue, Honeywell, Wink, SmartThings and countless others to be added in the near future.
The installation process is as simple as replacing the existing light switch with the new Brilliant Control. The configuration process only takes between 5 to 10 minutes tops. Users can control all the Smart gadgets connected to the home network directly from the device, but if you are looking for a hands-free operation, you can request Alexa to perform the actions for you.
