Device manufacturers are working around the clock to develop a new novel feature or technology for their products. So far, consumers are impressed with the unlimited array of connected devices and products, but many are still waiting to take the plunge. Today, Smart Home devices use voice, gesture and motion sensing technology and apps to interact with users.
Most of the new smartphones are embedded with a fingerprint sensor, which support a variety of functions on the phone. Interacting with the phone offers a much quicker access than the PIN code that has to be inputted into the phone correctly. The mobile phone already recognizes specific finger movements, but it cannot differentiate between each finger and the thumb.
Tapdo Fingerprint Sensor
The RFID card reader, with a high-speed fingerprint sensor has already been integrated in Smart Locks to provide quick access. Tapdo, a German-based technology company, has taken the fingerprint sensor even further, integrating it into a compact button, which can be worn as a clip-on or wristband. Instead of activating the Smart devices connected to your Home Automation network, with voice, gesture or app, you can do it by just tapping the button.
According to Tapdo, the accompanied app allows the user to assign a variety of functions to one button simultaneously. Users can also assign a single action to a specific part of their hand. The Tapdo Fingerprint Sensor utilizes Bluetooth to communicate with third-party interconnected devices. The embedded sensor is capable of recognizing different parts of the hand, making interaction with the Smart gadgets quick, discreet and intuitive.
“In February, we will launch a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter,” Reimer said. “As development is going to be finished by then, the campaign has the aim to start with the first mass-production batch. The plan is to start with the production in the spring months after the Kickstarter campaign, so that initial shipping for pre-orders can start in summer. At the beginning, the product will be available in Europe and the U.S.”
The Tapdo Fingerprint Sensor will be showcased:
